Suppose the ultimate, the tiniest

constituent of matter

turned out to be

the love-particle

which has no measurable effect

on anything.

If we grind the grains ever smaller

perhaps love will fly

from its atomic vault

wild and free

creating a chain reaction

that explodes the universe.

And when angel-astronauts

explore the cindery remnants

they’ll wonder

if in that radiant moment

we felt it was enough, and heaven

not worth the waiting for.
